the first part of his big city tale entitled großstadtmärchen acted like a catapult for oliver koletzki in 2009, pushing him from the dj booth into the limelight of electronic pop music. now, three years later, oliver releases a sequel to the successful long player in the form of großstadtmärchen 2. in addition, stil vor talent is presenting a jam-packed double vinyl remix package of some of the album’,s many highlights.

striking out in june 2011 with his debut ep >in your gut like a knife< - a neat summary of his electronic excursions at that point - the beautifully artworked 12 inch acted as a portal into a world of daydreams, tumbling into shadows and embracing luminescence simultaneously. breeding surreal headphone-friendly landscapes, he struck a peculiar and delicate balance between otherworldly and familiarity, at times sneaking a sly glance towards the dancefloor but mostly conjuring a sense of longing and rye melancholy. ticking with a distinctive bounce and rhythm, it comes as no surprise that gang colours was raised on the bump and grind of uk garage. taking a step back from chopped n screwed rnb vocals and the swing of ukg, >the keychain collection< explores more sombre recesses within gang colours palette. the scattered technicolor synth melodies that characterised his ep are present, but softer, cosier even, weaving betwixt and between forthright piano chords and wills own vocals. >the keychain collection< eloquently captures gang colours first steps on a long road.

the onset of autumn brings this new release from is it balearic..? recordings head boys coyote. featuring the vocal and lyrical talents of gavin gordon, a madrid based singer songwriter who has previously worked with mock and toof. minamoto is the tale of a 12th century samurai beautifully laid over a heavily percussive and slightly psychedelic disco groove. for the remixes, dj steef creates a more dubbed out 4/4 bouncy synth affair. the hardway bros concoct a proper mid-tempo acid house workout fitting for all the more discerning dancefloors. the third remix from shocks is a reverb heavy breakbeat trip into the darker side of hypnotic balearic/cosmic beats. there is also a bonus track el sueno oscuro a beautifully evocative solo flamenco guitar track by gavin gordon.

lil tony is hotter than hot. while starting to dj and produce years ago, tony has been a staple in the scandinavian club scene since the early 90s. an amazing dj (actually one of the favourites around the moodmusic hq) and a talented producer, tony started with the fbi project with roberto rodriguez and kimmo oksanen before dropping some serious damage on raw trax vol. 1 last year on moodmusic. caned by everyone from luciano (he edited his own version of semble) to dj hell, tonys raw grooves cut the crap and moved people when other producers had to take a leak. hardworking, never forgetting his gentleman manners, tony is here to stay and raw trax vol. 2 is a bold new statement, and his best work to date. solid state takes the classic detroit influenced drum machine vs piano theme a step forward, a impeccable jam of 15 minutes with the beat keeping the pace, this has been roadproofed the last 6 months to good effect. the b-side karamba is a dry, tight driven tech-workout, perfect mixtool for the deeper techno as well as housier sets. it just works well. the closing checkpoint charlie is a tale of >lost in helsinki< – dark mean bass wanders around and gives space for the chuggin main line, monotonic body music at its best.

zuckerwatte is the second single from oliver koletzkis new album >großstadtmärchen<. and zuckerwatte, which translates as candyfloss is a truly magical tale about love and loss in the big city. the original features juli holzs softly whispering voice that is so very fragile, and so very beautiful. this is a softly grooving electro-pop discovery. but of course this song has also been transformed for the dancefloor on this single that also features two more tracks from olivers album. first up is the remix by david august, one half of the duo august & bachert who delivers a top-notch glitchy tech-house edit that makes great dramaturgical use of the original track. next up is björn störigs vision of zuckerwatte. the drummer of olivers live outfit the koletzkis envisions juli holz perform her sweet and sticky singing over some neo-soul tech-rnb influenced electronica that features a spanish guitar, some great claps and some very nice synthesizers. on the flip there is koletzkis instrumental house-homage kusskompatibel and these habits, on which only seventeen-year-old singer pyur makes her debut. she sings wonderfully harmonic over this down-beat trip-hop groove and it results in a great hit for the late summer. this single is more than a single. its the best thing before the album

some notorious electronic music talents have started their careers as percussionists. and so did yaya, but his tale is different to all the rest. his new release for desolat takes a unique, upbeat approach to 4/4 beats: combining heartfelt benin influences - samples from dialogue and traditional ballads - with the stretched-out tension and release of balearic and the bubbling pops and stutters of tech house, plus the occasional kickback to a commodore64 high score melody. raised in turin, italy, rhythm was his lifeblood for yassin legali, also known as yaya, from an early age. his father was the lead vocalist and percussionist for mbamina, a band consisting of musicians from benin, zaire, italy and cameroon. mbamina released eight albums, collaborated with artists like manu dibango and salif keita, were sponsored by paco rabanne and played all over africa, including a show for the presidents of senegal and france. their final show was with james brown in paris in 1985 - the year yaya was born. well-versed in his fathers legacy, yaya grew up playing drums and djembe, and at the age of 15, began performing as a percussionist in turin clubs. just one year later, he was already djing, playing funk, soul, afrobeat, house and garage. manu dibango and fela kuti found a spot in his crate next to records by masters at work and dimitri from paris: contrasts of rhythm and structure that pervade his music to this very day.

already a mainstay in the scene with admired releases on brother label poker flat, and of course connaisseur, patrick chardronnet returns with a wonderful 2 track ep on audiomatique. a delightfully trippy, post-minimal adventure, ‚piper‘ raises the brow for chardronnet, dropping the big room synths this time in favour of a very organic, low-slung addictive groove. sparse, tricky percussion underpins the headsdown late night vibe, as a drifting ensemble of mystic vocals and haunting horns unfolds over 11 minutes. enchanting, mesmeric and deeply spaced, this reduced-percussive foray explores chardronnet‘s more hypnotic side... a priceless cut of of hybrid house from a modern master. on the b side the driving, textural chimes of ‚dropout‘ ensnare the listener into another beautiful and mysterious world. solid-state, bass-led percussion and crisply-cut percussive fx remain subdued whilst an epic, swirling synth landscape weaves its dreamy tale. suggesting moments of real drama, yet all the while maintaining an addictive, slow burning vibe, its a an amazing journey into this producer‘s remarkable, inimitable sonic world.

with veryverywrongindeed about to do its first new label night at fabric s sister club matter three days after this release, the label is expected to get a lot of attention across the web, with interviews coming in ibiza voice, data transmission and a big competition in ra. the track, meanwhile, is inspired by the 1960 s film starring richard burton. with sheridan s classical-music background and his trademark grand piano and orchestral stabs, it s a dark and fluid number - in the spirit of the murky east end gangland tale that inspired it. and on the flip is another up-and-coming uk artist, max cooper, taking the track in a much more epic direction.

our third release is introducing to you more intensely the musical personality of dairmount, founder & a&r of our the label. longtime independent music activist born in belgium (formerly known as philarmonix), dairmount is a natural born “freestyler” who embraced anything soulful & groovy since the late 80‘s, playing & travelling the world for 15 years. hamburg is the city where he settled down in the last 6 years and 2009 marks the accomplishment of his personal dream to found room with a view, shelter of his musical fantasies. friendship & challenge are two values that defi ne phil pretty well so it is no surprise that musical collaborations & versatility tightly express his musical approach and personal ethic. after displaying bass-ment tale, an old school house tribute produced with his partner in crime marino berardi, on the fi rst episode of the perspectives serie, dairmount is presenting subakuatik blues on his fi rst ep. recorded in 2007 with his good friend ralf petter, an “old cat” of the hamburg music scene, this track managed to capture the essence of these great studio sessions : phil’s natural obsession to create hybrid club material & ralf’s amazing engineering skills matching perfectly to create this sub-aquatic dream that resulted in the track name. lost in the world of analogue synths of ralf’s studio, they created a 9 minutes odyssey crossing the lines between deep house, disco futurism & detroit infl uences topped by a surprising “ravy” breakdown. phil approached naturally two of his longtime favorite producers to give their own perspectives of the timeless feel of the original : russ gabriel, who phil has always admired for the depth of his output on ferox, planet e or his own soul on wax, has signed a beautiful version of the track. extremely subtle & hypnotic, this remix is a true blessing & a great pride. mood music’s honcho sasse, old friend of phil, retouched with lots of love & care the track that he went crazy for and even realised 2 vers

we re not sure if theres been a whole lot of russian vocal led synthy disco around of late / ever, but we definitely like the idea of it. and so we have the first release on the brand new tirk affiliated label nang. d pulses sound is a sonic cocktail that represents the different flavours of its ingredients. great for dancing, as well as regular home listening, making love or preferably cooking. you can call it russian house, full of spirit, soul and its own philosophy. now on to the tunes. the foto mix of more combines cold robo synth bass and stripped back rhythms with the haunting tale of love, loss and the ultimate fulitility of existence (probably). the original mix lives up to the live jam side to the d pulse manifesto with organic funk and jazzy chops leading the way. fellow russian alcos coolkas carries on where his new work on tirk left off, with simple but sparkling and sophisticated electronics working away with snippets of the vocal to mesmerising effect. the package rounds off with the spacey, warm, instrumental highway to saturn. nang has launched!
